Spring Canning Classes

Preserving your harvest and enjoying seasonal flavors all year round just got easier. Our upcoming canning classes offer hands‐on instruction in two essential preservation methods: water bath and pressure canning. Whether you’re new to canning or looking to refine your skills, these sessions provide step‐by‐step guidance from your favorite Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Sarah Ware at both Jones and Onslow locations.

  • FEE: $10 for each class (Exact cash or check only)

Water Bath Canning

Learn the fundamentals of water bath canning: a great method for preserving high‐acid foods like fruits, jams, jellies, and pickles. Classes include safety tips, equipment recommendations, and hands-on demonstrations.

Pressure Canning

For low-acid foods such as vegetables and meats, pressure canning is essential. These classes focus on the specific safety procedures and techniques required for pressure canning, including proper temperature control and equipment use. We will be canning meat in each class.
