Med Instead of Meds: Exploring Healthy Living at The Filling Station

On August 8th, 15th, 22nd, and September 5th, 12th, and 27th, five enthusiastic participants joined the Med Instead of Meds series at The Filling Station in Pollocksville. This engaging class, held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., guided participants through seven simple steps to eating the “Med Way,” focusing on sustainable, health-conscious lifestyle changes inspired by the Mediterranean diet.

A Journey to Mindful Eating and Healthy Living

This free program, sponsored by The Filling Station and United Way, provided valuable tips, life hacks, and recipes to help participants incorporate the Mediterranean diet into their daily routines. With a small group size, the class offered personalized attention, lively discussions, and practical tools to make healthy eating enjoyable and accessible.

What Participants Learned

The workshop covered a variety of essential topics, blending expert guidance with hands-on learning:

  • Simple Steps for Mindful Eating: Strategies to savor meals and improve eating habits.
  • Meal Planning: Tools to plan balanced, delicious meals without the stress.
  • Label Reading: How to make informed choices at the grocery store.
  • Right-Sizing Your Portions: Tips for avoiding overeating while feeling satisfied.
